Caveats are an important tool in dealing with risk management for both business and individuals. A caveat is a legal document that can be lodged in the Court of Session, or Sheriff Courts, or both. With a caveat lodged at the relevant court, the court must inform your solicitors if an application for an interim interdict, an interim winding up order or a bankruptcy order has been made against you or your business in court. This will allow time for the appropriate representations to be made on your behalf.
Without a caveat in place the court is under no obligation to inform you that an application for an interim interdict has been made against you and an order can be granted without notice in your absence. They last for one year from the date of lodging and can be renewed every year for as long as required.
At Khan Law we are committed to assisting you with your legal issue. For some of our clients this is the first time that they have instructed a solicitor, however, we will ensure that we explain the process in full to you to make your customer journey as smooth as possible. We will discuss funding options with you so that you are clear on how much things will cost. There are no hidden fees.

This will depend on the number of caveats you require, including which Sheriff Courts they are to be lodged in. We are normally able to offer this as a fixed fee per caveat.
A fixed fee is a set amount that is charged for any work carried out. If you are provided with a fixed fee, and you accept, you are only required to pay the fixed fee amount and will not be asked to pay anything more. Provided your instructions remain within the scope of the work agreed at the outset.
